Hello fellow anglers,
It’s important that you know that I, personally, will be your fishing guide every Fall and Spring. You probably would like to know a little about your guide for the day. I would love to say, “the day I came in to this life I had a rod in my hand and was floating on the water.” Well, that isn’t the case. Truth be told, I was born in the big city of Anaheim in southern California. I fished a few times out there but just got small blue gill. My love for fishing started after moving to Michigan when I was 15 years old. After losing my father to cancer in back in California when I was only 14 years old, fishing helped me through those unbearably difficult years.
I learned how to first fish for blue gill and slowly start learning how to fish for other types. As I started learning how to fish more kinds of fish, I found my true love for salmon, steelhead and Coho. I have been fishing for salmon for over 19 years and have taught a lot of people how to fish for these Kings! At this point in my fishing career, I obviously still love landing my own salmon. Honestly, though, what I love most is seeing people smile as they get their first salmon or their 100th salmon!
Why are we called “Double Fly Guides?” Many times when fishing for kings and steelhead, we use a two fly setup on the line. This is the first use of double flies. My wife, who is a licensed drone pilot, can also join us on the river with her drone and fly overhead for a portion of your trip and get some amazing footage of you fishing. So that’s how we came up with the play on words as “Double Fly Guides!”
You will get more than what you pay for if you trust me to take you out on a guided trip. My absolute first priority is to keep you safe. This comes from my background in firefighting for 11 years and EMT Basic for seven years. My second priority is to get these beautiful fish in your hands.
I can’t wait to share my love of fishing with you.
Sincerely your guide,
Phillip Wright
